Leslie Pate MacKinnon, L.C.S.W., has been a
therapist for over 30 years.  She was drawn to this
field by her own experience of placing two sons in
closed adoptions during her late adolescence.  She
is now in reunion with both of these sons.  She is
also the mother of teen aged IVF twins.

FIRST PERSON PLURAL chronicles the filmmaker's experiences as an orphan from South Korea adopted by a white American family. Through a first-time journey to Korea with her adoptive American mother and father, the documentary reveals a personal story about mistaken identity, and broader issues about the loss of culture resulting from assimilation and a pervasive American attitude toward immigrants and minorities.
